If you’re coming to this blog for any type of nutritional advice, you have definitely come to the wrong place. With that being said, sugar is not good for you – even GOOP agrees and that place is full of properly researched scientific advice!
In this episode Marge goes on a crusade against sugar and gets it banned from Springfield to try and make everyone healthier. That plot makes sense, Marge is always trying to improve people. But her dessert of choice once sugar is banned are limes? Limes are a fruit, why can’t everyone just have some orange slices for dessert instead? Or what about purple? Purple is a fruit. I know that fruits also contain sugar, but at least it also contains vitamins and fiber.
Anyway, I steamed a slice of lime to see if that would somehow improve the flavor, the results will shock you!
Bring water to a rolling boil, steam limes for several minutes until “done”.
Did I say the results will shock you? I meant not surprise you even a little bit because this tasted exactly like a warmed up lime slice. The consistency was softer, the taste was just as sour as I expected. If this is what’s available for dessert at the Simpsons household, I would suggest planning a trip to San Glucose as soon as possible.
