Special Cake to Ruin

Homer: What? It’s not Magaggie’s Birthday? Oh.
Marge: Hey! Hey! Hey! Stop it! I made a special cake for you to ruin. It’s over there.

In the above screenshot, the frosting on top of the cake is pink. But in the very next shot, my dear, the entire cake frosting is now white. Look!

What are we to believe that Homer somehow *magically* ate all the pink frosting? I guess it is somewhat likely that he would eat all the pink frosting, but that wouldn’t mean there would be a white frosting underneath, it would just be cake. Anyway, you know the drill someone should have been fired for that blunder and so on.

In recreating this cake, I was going for outward appearance – because as we all know, it’s what’s outside that counts. Therefore, the cake came from a box mix. I also used white frosting from a can (but no pink frosting dammit!) and sugar letters.

Ingredients:

  • Chocolate Cake Mix
  • Vanilla Frosting
  • Decorative Sugar Letters

Directions:

Follow the instructions for mixing the cake batter, but to achieve the desired size and shape of Marge’s Special Cake to Ruin, you will need either two 8-inch or 9-inch round pans. Divide the cake batter between the pans and bake for however long the box tells you to. The box knows best.

Allow cakes to fully cool before icing. You will want some icing between the two cake layers to keep them together once they are stacked. Next, add icing to the outside of the cake and smooth out the edges as you best you can (I swear I tried to make this smooth). Finally, add your decorative sugar letters.

They might look tasty, but the sugar letters aren’t actually that good. I realize that a glutton like Homer eats pretty much anything but based on his reaction, being unable to stop eating the letters, I was hoping these would taste better. As it is, they basically taste like sugar and food coloring which is fine, I guess.

On the other hand, the cake was delicious. I went for a chocolate cake because we never find out what the inside of the cake is and who doesn’t love chocolate cake? The only issue is if (when?) you spill some on your pants. Because nothing gets chocolate out. The cake with the frosting tasted really good, honestly the only “bad” part of the cake was those damn sugar letters. They taste like over-manufactured crap and not in a good way. Cheetos are over-manufactured crap and are not even technically food, but I could eat a whole bag of those. The sugar letters? Meh.
